Spurs keen on forward who has £85m release clause Financial concerns mean Hammers may accept lower bid West Ham’s need to rebuild their squad without breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations could lead them to sell Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham if their London rivals offer enough for the attacker. Spurs have identified Kudus as a key target and there is a feeling that he will be available for less than his £85m release clause, which is applicable to Premier League sides for the first 10 days of July. There is no asking price but there is a sense that £60m could be enough to get a deal done. Continue reading...
Today’s rumours have a hint of tearful goodbyes Liverpool are believed to be willing to let Joe Gomez leave Anfield this summer and there are no shortage of suitors for the England international. Sunderland, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham, Leeds, and Burnley have formed a disorderly queue for the 28-year-old who is valued at £30m. Despite not having done business with West Ham since 2011 because he does not get on with the club’s owners, the Tottenham Hotspur chair Daniel Levy is prepared to bite the bullet in an effort to bring Mohammed Kudus to north London. The Ghanaian has an £85m release clause on his contract but Spurs are believed to be preparing to test the waters with a £50m lowball offer. Continue reading...

Ipswich bid farewell to their Premier League status after just one year back in the top flight with defeat against West Ham in the final game of the season at Portman Road. Town gifted the first goal to James Ward-Prowse just before the half-time break following a dreadful back-pass from the captain Sam Morsy. They equalised just after the restart through Nathan Broadhead but the teams were level for just three minutes after Jarrod Bowen restored West Ham’s lead and Mohammed Kudus put the icing on the cake with a goal three minutes from the end. The Ghana international on how recent successes and his club’s feeling and culture fuel hope for their semi-final with Manchester United Iñaki Williams, the fastest footballer in town, is accelerating again. The more the images come, the quicker he goes, flying through faces, flashbacks and feelings, everything they did and can still do. “It’s madness,” he says, eyes sparkling, the words chasing each other out, emotion building. And then the Athletic Bilbao winger pauses and laughs. “The other day they came to do tests. The cardiologist started to talk about it. He says: ‘That was wonderful; wow, the gabarra …’ And just him mentioning it, on the screen you saw my heart beating faster.” The gabarra is a barge. Only that’s not all: there is something almost mythical about it, like a legend passed through generations. In an expression of Athletic’s identity, another idiosyncrasy of a unique club, the club’s trophies are celebrated by pulling the gabarra up the Nervión river with the players on board, or so they had been endlessly told, black and white pictures adorning the walls of seemingly every bar. Then, last April, they finally saw it for themselves, Williams leading them on board holding the Copa del Rey. It was the first time in 40 years. More than a million fans lined the river to see it: there were more people with them in Bilbao than live there. Continue reading...
Ghana winger is on Saudi side’s radarContract contains release clause active for set period West Ham have accepted that selling Mohammed Kudus may be the best way to boost their transfer budget. The Ghana winger, whose contract contains a release clause that becomes active for a set period this summer, is attracting interest from Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League. Kudus impressed after joining West Ham from Ajax in the summer of 2023 but he has struggled to have the same impact in his second season. The 24-year-old has not scored for the club since December and there is a view within the London Stadium that losing him would not be a disaster. Continue reading...
They should be one of the Africa Cup of Nations favourites, instead Ghana are facing up to another chaotic failure What made it especially painful was that, just briefly, it seemed they might get away with it. But they did not. Ghana did not get the win they needed in Angola on Friday and so Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey and Antoine Semenyo will not be at the next Cup of Nations, which begins in Morocco in December 2025. Ghana have been terrible in the qualifiers. Their elimination is deserved. They went into their final pair of games needing to win both and hope Sudan lost both of theirs. The likelihood was that it would all be over on Thursday, when Sudan, managed by the former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, which has added a whole other tier of complication, went to Niger. But Niger won, 4-0. Nobody had expected that. For Ghana there was a glimmer of hope. Continue reading...
